While Our National Debt Is Growing; $1.4 BILLION Was Spent On The Obamas In 2011

That money paid the salaries of their staff members, it paid for their transportation and housing costs, it paid for entertainment and vacations for the Obamas, and $102,000 was even spent on a “dog handler” for the family dog Bo.

Edit.  It is truly hard to believe that people are willing to make this same mistake again; certainly, this is a case of “fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me”. Obviously, we’ve not been given much choice in the matter as we have the lesser of the two evils running against; and that has its own negative effects.

Records at the Pumps

US Average Monthly Gas Prices Have Set Records Five Times This Year

“They’ll break daily records through the end of this year,” said Michael Green, AAA spokesman. “There have been a whole host of refinery issues this year. With the combination of high oil prices and low gas supplies, we are really seeing prices rise.”

Edit.  To read between the lines, so to speak, part of the reason for low gas supplies not stated is the disruptions caused by the various Arab Spring uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East. In addition, we have the nervousness caused by the saber rattling in Iran-Israel, and the actual Civil War in Syria. Finally, this being an election year and Obama taking a stand against the Energy Industry it could possibly be a bit of manipulation of the market to cause discontent to the electorate with the aim of ousting Obama from the White House. No matter who gets into the Oval Office we will not see an immediate lessening of prices because it will be near the start of the Christmas Holidays with all the holiday travel. Don’t expect any relief at the pumps until January, if at all.

Rumors of wars…

…the Wicked Witch of the West

Must be the season of the witch

Hillary Clinton laughs about possible war against Iran

Edit. Just in time for the spooky Halloween season, when the ghoulies and ghosties prowl about, and things go bump in the night, we hear the eerie cackle of an old crone stirring her cauldron of evil … on no that’s just Hillary laughing about matters of life, death, war, and destruction. …she is such a card!

Last time I heard that cackling was on her hearing of the violent death of Gaddafi back in the spring. What was it she said? Oh! Yes, of course! We came; we saw; he died! Surely, it is of her that the saying: Cold as a witch’s …heart, was coined.

Faith and Morals…

Women as Priests

Despite the official church position, clergy and laity have been fighting for the ordination of women since the early 1970s, hoping to expand upon the Vatican II reforms. And according to a 2010 poll by The New York Times and CBS, 59 percent of American Catholics favor the ordination of women.

Edit.  It is said, that the most enthusiastic proponents of a cause or faith are converts and the same is true for those who abandon a cause or faith … the most powerful critics are those who leave. It is obvious that the author of this piece, by her own admission, is a lapsed Catholic but also she is a virulent critic. Let us examine, first her admission of not any longer practicing her Faith… Why would she have such an emotional response to seeing a woman “presider”, as she calls her, if she no longer cared about her native Faith? Second, she apparently left the Faith because of her own personal apathy and not having an in-depth understanding of the reasons why things are as they are within the theology of the Church. Essentially, she had a cursory knowledge learned by rote rather than a true and deep understanding and conviction. Her statement evidences this: The Roman Catholic Church’s argument against the ordination of women is simple and relies on the logic of tradition: ‘that’s what we have always done.’  She obviously has no understanding of the nature of the Sacraments regarding matter and form, which is an elemental aspect of the Faith. While I don’t know her age, it is my guess that she was raised in the post VCII Church, simply based on her shallow knowledge of the Faith. She is an excellent example of the dearth of understanding that ensued following the abandonment of the Baltimore Catechism or the Catechism of the Council of Trent.

Emerging Illnesses (Pestilence)…

Killers on the loose: the deadly viruses that threaten human survival

Could the next big animal-human disease wipe us out?

The dangers presented by zoonoses are real and severe, but the degree of uncertainties is also high. There’s not a hope in hell, as Webster told me, of predicting the nature and timing of the next influenza pandemic. Too many factors vary randomly.

The times they are a changin’…

Obama adviser admits: ‘We need death panels’

Makes shocking admission about Obamacare, advocates rationing for elderly

“We need death panels,” began Rattner. “Well, maybe not death panels, exactly, but unless we start allocating health-care resources more prudently – rationing, by its proper name – the exploding cost of Medicare will swamp the federal budget.”

Edit.  As a senior in a Catholic high school in NYC the issue of legalized abortion was coming into the fore of society’s consciousness. Roe v. Wade had was under consideration, but not yet passed by the Supreme Court. However, a small but growing number of Americans, including many Catholics I might add, were pressing for legalized abortion on demand. The priest we had for religion was trying to teach us the Church’s teaching on life issues during a class, when one of the more liberal students, and keep in mind nominally Catholic, started to argue the position as a women’s right and the charitable thing to do. The godly priest pressed on, but after fifteen minutes of not reaching the worldly influenced student changed the subject to one of justice by simply stating all those who now advocate for abortion they will one day face the obligation to die under the guise of charity. This will be God’s Justice for their sins of today. This finally shut up that little smart …a-a-a-…aleck. Little did we know at that time how prophetic these words were in view of the above article? Those now reaching and in their senior years were the same who advocated the killing of the most innocent through abortion. The modern saying of: what goes around comes around is very apt here. Who woulda’ thunk it? I oft wonder if ol’ Greg L. from the Cardinal Hayes class of ’71 is not now stepping up to volunteer for The Big Sleep?

Politics and more…

2016: Obama’s America the Movie Review

I finally got through with my winter preps to a sufficient degree to see this much talked about movie by Dinesh D’Souza. Overall, there are no earth-shattering revelations made that any astute American citizen not caught up with America’s Got Talent and beer-swigging armchair sports is not already aware. Mr. D’Souza does, however, wrap the Obama Experience into such a nice package that even those who are willfully and blissfully ignorant of current affairs can see the naked psyche of this man, the sitting President of the United States and not tremble in their boots.

In reading the background facts of Obama, it is not unlike reading a recipe for a very complex dish. Yes, it might be described as:

A Recipe for Disaster

Add a mixed race child of an affluent white-guilt ridden mother-of-privilege to,

An angry absentee Communist father-of-color, be sure he is a subject of colonial power,

Stir in liberal military white grandparents, also suffering white-guilt,

Blend in a generous portion of misinformed idolization of the absentee father by a neglected son, that is, Obama,

            For flavoring, add in generous amounts of:

Communism in the form of a mentor named Frank Marshall Davis;

Radicalism in the form of lifelong domestic terrorist and friend Bill Ayers;

Black racism in the form of the rhetoric of Jeremiah Wright;

Barack’s own Hatred for the status quo American affluence in the world;

His, Obama’s, own Abhorrence of the poor classes;

Obama’s Self-loathing Guilt for his half-white legacy.

Mix well all ingredients and long-simmer in a stewpot of self-pity and you have the makings of a fine mess, also known as a fine kettle of fish.

Now there are some things, which Mr. D’Souza does point out about Obama, with which I agree; and others I do not. Let me first preface this by saying that he, Mr. D’Souza, states that as a “person of color” he can talk from a better perspective than a white American; …this is a bunch of hooey! If I, as a white man, see our great nation sinking slowly into the sunset I can speak with just as much righteous indignation as any “person of color” regardless of whether the person held responsible is white, black, yellow, red, or any combination thereof. I’ve no need to justify myself based on my color, national origin, or racial makeup. Secondly, I disagree that America, must remain strong, independent, and free, not to police and otherwise sort out the rest of the world’s problems through foreign misadventures, as Mr. D’Souza states, but because it is our legacy from our forefathers and it is the reason that our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents came to this great nation from the start. It was for freedom both political and economic personal freedom …not to be the guardians of the world or the spreaders of democracy.

As to agreement, I also see that the wars in the Middle East and North Africa are not for noble motives of liberating the oppressed and spreading democracy. They are strictly based on control of oil, the life-blood of the industrial West, and for expansion of Zionist hegemony in that region of the globe and the geo-political influence of a Greater Israel. While, at first glance, it would appear that my stand is the same as Mr. Obama’s, his has more to do with his hatred, as in The Dreams from My Father, of neo-colonialism and the appearance of a master-class within a modern colonial structure of Israel and the United States. As stated, numerous times in past issues, my contention is that we must look to our own interest and let others concern themselves with theirs. We have enough reserves of energy in all forms here at home, that we waste both American blood and treasure abroad for no good reason.

With all the foregoing said, I think it is good to see this movie before the upcoming elections, not that Romney is any better, and as to foreign expansion, possibly worse. It would galvanize the thoughts of the electorate as to the nature and make-up of the man that sits on the most powerful seat in the world. As for me, I will not cast a vote for either of the two party candidates, but vote for the candidate that best represents my views and interests and more importantly the interests of the United States of America before all else.

Let the men of wisdom speak…

Since Thursday Oct. 4th marked the birthday of “My President” Charlton Heston, (born John Charles Carter, October 4, 1923), and in consideration of the continued sapping of our liberties, I would like to reprise the YouTube video of his most famous speech as President of the National Rifle Association. Surely, this speech was worthy of great men of the past like Washington, Jefferson, Henry, and many others; but by contrast was given by one of our contemporaries. Listen to it intently in view of all the executive orders, surveillance, spy drones of our day and see if the words still ring true. Most especially in considering that we will be voting for the President of the United States within four weeks.

Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.

Domestically speaking…

While we’ve not yet had a frost of any kind we have had some overnight temps in the mid-forties. So we’ve already had a couple or three small fires in the stove …just to get the dampness and chill out of the ole’ homestead. I’m glad to have these fires, at this point the messy job of cleaning and replacing the stovepipe is but a distant memory as I bask aside the warm glow, watching the flames leap and dance on the pallet wood in the firebox with a glass of homemade port in my hand. It doesn’t get any better than this! Meantime, I must now choose which of my flower boxes are brought into the greenhouse for the season. This is a difficult but necessary decision as the area is only 10’x10’. The winter squash is still conditioning in the field waiting to be brought into storage just before the first frost. Then we will harvest the potatoes. Things are slowing down considerably; soon the weekly lawn mowing will be but a memory.

Final commentary…

As we approach the American elections, more crucial now than past elections, we stare into a future that is not easily foreseeable, or more correctly not easily palatable. Looking around we see the global economy is in complete disarray… For the first time in living memory, the American Greenback is no longer the reserve currency of world trade and is quickly being replaced by makeshift market baskets of various currencies and commodities. Chaos ensues as trade and currency wars flare up. In the social sphere things fare as bad if not worse. Not only is abortion de rigor, for nearly all societies, East and West, but euthanasia is more and more touted as the panacea for a myriad of personal and societal problems, as the “Baby-boomer” generation puts an increasing burden on the various entitlement programs. We face increased acceptance of Sodomite marriages, which under a thin veneer of personal freedom and choice lays the natural and subsequent action of restricting procreation; …this is the ultimate hidden goal of the “homosexual agenda”. In view of these things and in consideration of the recent wars and rumors of wars we see all about us in the last decade or so that has killed millions of useless eaters around the globe it is easy to discern insidious preternatural machinations. Surely, nothing pleases Satan more than the destruction of Mankind, the only creature that God saw as worthy of Redemption. As I’ve been wont to say over many issues of Catholic Rural Solutions our primary battle lies not in the temporal world, though we are obliged to resist it; it lies in warfare against principalities and powers in the spiritual realm. We must therefore, cling to our Catholic Faith as a life raft amid the flotsam and jetsam of the wreckage of the post Christian Western Civilization. While our dear Pope and hierarchy are asleep at the tiller of this life raft it is up to us, not only to be vigilant for the many dangers and hazards constantly threatening to sink us, but also to cling to our Faith by gathering together with likeminded fellow Catholics in worship, prayer and, community. Whether that community be the family, extended family, several families from our chapels, or even our entire chapel we must continue to say the Rosary for the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We must make reparation for sin; we must live our Faith as if we mean it; and we must support all those priests and religious who continue to retain the traditional Catholic Faith. This is our last, best and, only hope.

Caveat: I’m not in anyway giving or advocating any medical or financial advice but merely informing you of the controversies involved in this topic and the dilemma they present to the thinking Catholic in our times.  I do not intend to give medical or financial advice or take any responsibility for anyone else’s health, medical  or financial positions and decisions and as always encourage everyone to be fully informed, through personal research and contact a professional advisor before making any medical or financial decisions.

About Catholic Rural Solutions

This group is for the practical application of Catholic Distributist teachings as promoted by Pope St. Pius X, Belloc, Chesterton, Maurin and others in the 20th century. This group is also a respite for traditional Catholics who adhere to the Tridentine Rite of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and who share a concern for small independent Catholic communities throughout the world. These communities while primarily small holding farmers, craftsmen and tradesman all espouse an integrated life based on Catholic Social Justice and the Sacred Magisterium of the Church. Through this we intend to inject the Distributist economic principles into the greater society. Please fell free to share your experiences in this vein. Flaming, proselytizing and persecution WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
