Saturday Update October 27, 2012
Feast Our Lady of Saturdays
He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it. Mt.10:37-39
On the Lighter Side…
I dialed the number of a friend this week and got the following recording:
I am not available right now, but Thank you for caring enough to call.
I am making some changes in my life. Please leave a message after the Beep. If I do not return your call, you are one of the changes.
Greece turning to desperate measures as citizens face starvation due to economic collapse
The European nation of Greece appears to be sliding ever so progressively into the abyss of total collapse, as illustrated by a recent government measure aimed at feeding the growing hordes of hungry, unemployed Greeks across the nation. A report translated into English from Voz Populi explains that, under the new law, Greek merchants will now be permitted to sell expired foods at a reduced rate to the nation’s poorest citizens, who are becoming increasingly unable to afford basic necessities.
Edit. While now, Greece is the only nation affected to this dramatic level many other nations are walking in the same path. Should the various governments not get hold of the essential problems at hand, they too will succumb to much the same condition. Hopefully, this in not intentionally the aim of the governments to usher in a New World Order, this would be a tragedy. History has shown, however, that great upheaval often paves the way for complete changes in the social and economic order.
BTW, I’ve noticed as the election draws nearer it is getting hard to find suitable news reports on the economy or our misadventures in the Middle east and North Africa. Even the whole Benghazi situation seems to be under wraps. Coincidence? Ya’ Think?

Vladimir Putin, Russia Test Nuclear Arsenal
President Vladimir Putin took a leading role in the latest tests of Russia’s strategic nuclear arsenal, the most comprehensive since the 1991 Soviet collapse, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

Flood Cleanup Efforts Begin At Lourdes Shrine
An Italian pilgrimage bearing the relics of Blessed John Paul II, which was set to arrive from Rome Oct. 21, has been canceled according to the organization’s president, Salvatore Pagliuca.
Edit. What can one say? The Lord works in mysterious ways. Like the Italian earthquake that struck Assisi after the first ecumenical prayer service under the pontificate of John Paul II. The Holy Ghost often speaks to men but they refuse to hear.

Americans eat more than their body weight in GMOs every year, study shows
The average adult in America, it turns out, weighs 179 pounds, and consumes an average of 193 pounds of GM corn-based products and salad oils every year. And when various other GMOs are added into the mix that were not included as part of the original study — in addition to corn and sugar beets, soybean oil and other soy-based products, conventional papaya, and canola oil are all widely consumed foods of GM origin as well — the contrast between body weight and GMO consumption widens even more significantly.
Edit. Keep in mind that this does not include secondary consumption of Frankenfoods, through our meat stocks, which are raised on GMO grains and grasses. Truly, this is a frightening prospect.

Hybrid of Sandy, winter storm threatens East Coast
It is likely to hit during a full moon when tides are near their highest, increasing coastal flooding potential, NOAA forecasts warn. And with some trees still leafy and the potential for snow, power outages could last to Election Day, some meteorologists fear. They say it has all the earmarks of a billion-dollar storm.
Edit. While this does not fit under the usual categories, this is as an alert. Remember, there was a similar storm last year at about this time, which crippled New England and had lasting power outages for upwards of a week. Prepare now by checking your battery stores, you propane tanks, gasoline tanks, and your food and water storage. This has the potential to be a hum-dinger of a winter storm.
‘Catholic’ university hosts pro-abortion theologian who compares Mass to gay sex
I have already argued that the phallocentrism of neo-orthodox theology risk reducing the Mass to an orgasmic celebration of homosexual love from which the female body is excluded. Tina Beattie, her book, God’s Mother, Eve’s Advocate
Edit. What an outrage! Yet she remains in good standing within the Novus Ordo Church as does the University that invited her to speak. The most amazing aspect is she is free to pollute the minds and souls of our Catholic youth. So is it wrong for our dissident priests and now bishop to be censured and expelled for crying out a warning against reconciliation with Rome at this time? Obviously, it is futile to have a practical agreement with the likes of those who protect these perverse theologians enabling them to spew out their diabolic venom on innocent Christian souls. The need for conversion of Rome on its own initiative must be a prerequisite to any further negotiations under this or any other pope. A practical agreement is no agreement at all and will be counterproductive, as we will not have the freedom to say what is needed to preempt such disordered thinking as this so-called Catholic theologian.
Wanna’ Feel Old, Look at This YouTube video
Edit. Arguably, the most obvious evidence of the changing times is in communications. However, since even the oldest of us has been conditioned to modern email, Instant Messaging, Skype, etc. this video will put the changes in perspective and illustrate how far we have advanced. It is also an eye-opener for the GenX folks. What really provides contrast is that in 1944 entry level education for the workforce was merely a high school diploma. Today many post graduate degrees are having difficulty finding jobs and often have only exorbitant student loans to show for all their education.

Bill Clinton ‘Urging’ Hillary to Release Benghazi Documents That Would ‘Exonerate’ Her, Destroy Obama’s Re-Election Hopes
He continued: “The CIA got cables, the Department of Defense got cables, the NSA got cables during the attack on Benghazi, in addition to the emails that have since been made public. We know that there are cables that we haven’t seen yet, confirming the State Department cables that this was an al-Qaeda linked attack.”
Edit. . This investigation has essentially, been put on the back burner until after the elections, otherwise it could throw the Administration’s Campaign efforts into the dumpster. So far, Hillary is playing the good and loyal soldier of the Party, but once the election is over the gloves will be off and she will come out fighting for her political career and the hope of being the first woman President of the US, like Momma bear protecting her cubs.
Former Obama Nat’l Security Advisor: No Progress In Middle East Under Obama
I would cite the START Treaty as a successful couple of years of hard work with the Russians. On the other hand, with the Middle East and Iran, we’re probably right back where we were three or four years ago.
Edit. As we get down to the wire the focus has been moved to the winning of the perception of the American electorate: facts mean nothing; perception is everything.
Let the men of wisdom speak…
If thou wouldst be certain of being in the number of the elect, strive to be one of the few, not of the many. And if thou wouldst be quite sure of thy salvation, strive to be among the fewest of the few. Do not follow the great majority of mankind, but follow those who enter upon the narrow way, who renounce the world, who give themselves to prayer, and who never relax their efforts by day or by night, that they may attain everlasting blessedness.
St. Anslem, (1033 – 1109): Church Doctor; “Father of Scholasticism”; and “Defender of the Rights of the Church”.
Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
Arrgh! Dig me hearties! Dig!
It seems that ol’ Cap’n Kidd once chose the soil of Hunny-Bunny Farm to bury part of his ill-gotten gains. Aye, me buckos and lasses, the infamous Captain himself chose the soil of the old flowerbed to bury his doubloons and pieces-o-eight …well pennies an nickels anyway. Upon my soul, as Billy Budd would say, a treasure of innumerable wealth was discovered by the grandkid’s by using ol’ Dziadek’s metal detector, a stout shovel, and last but not least a few young backs. A productive hour of detecting and digging turned up pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, washers, nuts and bolts, and finally a buried treasure containing a pirates bounty of loot. Yes, a chest containing a knot of twisted costume jewelry, coins, and holy medals was brought to the surface, at the exclamation of one of the discoverers that it: “was nice of Captain Kidd to leave this for us.” Of course, I corrected by pointing out it was found on Hunny-Bunny land at which point I was advised one of my confederates that: “I had to learn to share.” so hefting our newly resurfaced bounty into the air with a vigorous shake I declared it belonged to all parties involved in the digging. I guess I gave new meaning to shaking your booty! Anyhow, a good time was had by all and BTW, ol’ Dziadek got his garden turned. J. Tom Sawyer has nothing on ol’ Dziadek for getting’ outta work!
Putting It all In Perspective & Final commentary…
For the Society of St. Pius X this has been an eventful and tragic week. The expulsion of H.E. Bishop Williamson (see: http://www.dici.org/en/news/communique-of-the-general-house-of-the-society-of-saint-pius-x-october-23-2012/ ); and his rebuttal to H.E. Bishop Fellay (see: http://z10.invisionfree.com/Ignis_Ardens/index.php?s=63824448a5342b7ae955f72b7eee5ac5&showtopic=11210&st=0&#entry22037131 ); the sermon of H.E. Bishop de Galarreta in Villepreux, France (see: http://www.dici.org/en/news/the-useful-lesson-from-the-recent-trial/ ) all indicate that the Society of St. Pius X is in turmoil. Little charity is being exhibited by any parties concerned, and based on Bishop de Galarreta’s sermon the leadership is of a mind to accept a practical agreement as a prerequisite to a doctrinal conversion of Rome. If it weren’t of such serious consequence this internal dispute might be likened to a tempest in a teapot, because it comes down to how the contentious parties involved interpret the mission of the SSPX. One party believes the foundation is Faith; the other believes the foundation is governance: …yes, as simple as that.
Indeed, while subject to this partisan analysis one can easily cut through the haze and smoke of this internecine battle by likening the ideological viewpoints to the Papal Tiara worn by the pre-Conciliar Popes. This tiara contained three distinct crowns, each a separate and divergent symbolic representation. While such representations have various meanings, one can arguably state that one of the meanings is Faith, Governance, and Sanctity. These three are relational to each other in that Faith is foremost, followed by Governance, and Sanctity.
Now the internal disagreements between our good bishops have to do with this relationship, i.e. one states that Faith is primary; the other states that it is Governance, in the form of submission to authority. Yet our Faith in Christ and His Church informs us that it is this Faith that is the basis of all Catholic belief. Without Faith, there is no need for governance, as we see exhibited by many apostate and secular Catholics today: they neither regard nor obey the hierarchy because their foundation of Faith has been eroded. This divergence of thought by the two parties is of consequence to the Faithful in the pews. This internal struggle and the seemingly irrevocable consequences of expulsion only erode confidence and shake their Catholic Faith to the very core. While some prelates cavalierly state that we (the SSPX) have lived through other exoduses and splits, the outcome of this infighting is the potential loss of souls …good and Faithful Catholic souls.
Therefore, let us pray for our precious Society of St. Pius X. Let us privately petition its founder, His Excellency Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, of happy memory, that he may intercede and induce in our SSPX leadership a change of heart and a clear-sighted common mission so we can resume our monolithic support and defense of Christ and His One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
