Feast St. Gregory the Wonderworker, Bishop and Confessor
Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel, for the Lord shall enter into judgment with the inhabitants of the land: for there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land.
Cursing, and lying, and killing, and theft, and adultery have overflowed, and blood hath touched blood.
Therefore shall the land mourn, and every on that dwelleth in it shall languish with the beasts of the field, and the fowls of the air: yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be gathered together.
Osee (Hosea) 4:1-3
On the Lighter Side…
In the worst of times, humor will go a long way to ease the pain!
Obama Begins Push for New National Retirement System
The hearing, held in the Labor Department’s main auditorium, was monitored by NSC staff and featured a line up of left-wing activists including one representative of the AFL-CIO who advocated for more government regulation over private retirement accounts and even the establishment of government-sponsored annuities that would take the place of 401k plans.
Edit. Folks, this is the way we got started with Obamacare and look at that now. Hang on to your hat …and wallets folks, we’re in for a rough ride of it. If you the GOP will be the champions of the people think again and remember what Boehner said the day after the elections: Obamacare is now the law of the land.
I saw this coming back in 2010 and slowly by slowly made alternate plans. I suggest the readership do the same.
Junk Food Junkies are Closet Preppers!?!?
Closing of Hostess causes nationwide junk food preparedness surge among desperate Americans
In response to the news that Hostess is shutting down all operations, many Americans have found the strength to somehow get off their couches and march out to their local Wal-Marts and grocery stores where they are clearing the shelves of all Hostess products.
Edit. Katrina couldn’t do it! Neither the Fiscal Cliff …nor the Crash of 2008-9! Now however, all that has changed as Americans rush to the groceries to grab and horde Twinkies. It never ceases to amaze me, yet this nation of arguably the most educated, sophisticated, materially endowed nation on earth cannot see past their noses or at least beyond their screens. Two generations ago the citizenry knew of frugality and preparing during the fat seasons for the lean, so today as serious preppers are demonized in the media, it takes a looming shortage of chemically laced, over sweetened, useless calorie garbage to animate the masses to act. What a world …what a world! This certainly doesn’t bode well for the future of America as the shining leaders of the world. Strange! I would think this was another situation of too big to fail.
Rumors of Wars…
Redrawing the Middle East map: Iran, Syria and the new Cold War
The increasingly painful waiting game is escalating global tension, and linking the Middle East into a single, multi-dimensional crisis.
This crisis is a turning kaleidoscope of five crescents, surrounded by a new Arab Cold War, intersecting with the Arab Spring, in the context of the shatterbelt, within an emerging, second global Cold War. Lucky the American election is over, for it’s time to keep all eyes on the Middle East ball.
Edit. Truly, the entire Islamic World and the Middle East is a powder keg with many small fuses. Thanks to American support to overthrow brutal but stabilizing regimes in North Africa by our so-called enemies in the War on Terror, that is, Al Qaida and the Moslem Brotherhood, we face an incendiary situation, which threatens to ignite a conflagration that could extend from the Western Mediterranean to Afghanistan, should Israel attack Iran. This, of course, would inevitably involve Russia and China as both allies and trading partners to Iran. To this strange recipe, add the Moslems in East Africa, Micronesia and the Philippines and you have a fine porridge. This, of course, says nothing about Communist agitation both abroad and at home.
Faith and Morals…
Pope starts new Vatican department to promote Latin
It was the latest attempt by a string of modern-day popes to give the ancient language a boost.
In 1962, Pope John XXIII published “Veterum Sapientia” a document aimed at promoting the study of Latin, and in 1976 Pope Paul VI started the Latin Foundation and its quarterly “Latinitas”. But those ventures met with mixed results at best.
Edit. This is just another baiting of the hook to entice those gullible traditional Catholics to take the tempting lure. Doubtless, this will be another “example” of the Vatican coming closer to tradition by those who still believe duplicitous Rome, yet all remains window dressing. Unless and until Rome rejects the innovative errors of Vatican Council II, they will not have re-embraced traditional Catholic Doctrine and the traditional Magisterial Teaching of the Ages. As long as the Tridentine Rite of Mass remains the “extraordinary” rather than the ordinary form; and the term Novus Ordo Missa remain a viable form of worship rather than an example of an failed aberration in Church history, it will be extremely difficult to reconcile traditional orthodox worship with the Modernism exhibited over the past 50 years.
Our greatest strength is to remain in the status we are, that is validly Catholic, rather than enter the stable of traditional orders and groups within the Conciliar Church. To do so would be fatal and set back the Roman Catholic Faith a thousand years. In this position, we have grown and attracted more and more fellow Catholics of like mind as well as converts from other faiths among people seeking the Truth. Our record of vocations compared to the dismal Novus Ordo seminary enrollments is proof enough of not only success but also bears witness to the Truth of the traditional Catholic Faith.
US bishops endorse sainthood cause of Catholic Worker’s Dorothy Day
Day’s early life was turbulent and unsettled. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1897, but her family soon moved to San Francisco, where she was baptized an Episcopalian. Her family later moved to Chicago, and Day attended the University of Illinois in Urbana.
Edit. Dorothy Day was raised by “Irish free thinkers”, during her college years in Chicago she became enamored by Communist ideology. She had a libertine spirit and life; one daughter was born out of wedlock and another she aborted, after which, like many who commit this grievous sin, deeply regretted her actions. She sought solace and eventually re-discovered her Catholic roots. As a former Communist activist, she unfortunately, brought many of the foul tactics of Communist activity over to her Catholic Activism. Had she not been tempered through the Providential friendship with Peter Maurin, for whose many ideas of true Catholic Action she was given credit, she would have inculcated much Communist thought into the Church and her activities in Catholic Social Justice. As it was, she inculcated much of the Red thought and tactics into her Catholic Action, including modeling of The Catholic Worker, (still extant today) after the Communist Daily Worker of the 1920’s and 1930’s.
Maurin’s ideas included the Catholic Houses of Hospitality; the Round Table Discussions, which brought Catholic Social thought to the masses, and the Catholic Worker Farms, where the unskilled could be taught agriculture and other hands-on skills. These three were the basis of his thoughts on re-instilling Catholic thought and practices back into Western Civilization, long removed beginning with the Renaissance.
Health and Wellness: formerly called Emerging Illnesses (Pestilence)…
Vegetative patient Scott Routley says ‘I’m not in pain’
“Scott has been able to show he has a conscious, thinking mind. We have scanned him several times and his pattern of brain activity shows he is clearly choosing to answer our questions. We believe he knows who and where he is.”
Edit. Perhaps with this evidence it will derail the juggernaut of the advocates of euthanasia. This is an outstanding breakthrough that should change the face of how we see those in a perceived vegetative state and that they have the same rights as all human beings, that is the right to life. Now if we could have similar advanced research and development of the consciousness of the unborn perhaps we can begin to make inroads into the Culture of Death that has engulfed the entire world.
The Times They Are a Changin’…
MTA recording bus conversations to eavesdrop on trouble
Officials call audio surveillance a crime-fighting tool; privacy advocates question need
Two members of the state Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee say the MTA’s decision to record passengers without their consent is troubling.
“It’s an end run and ripe for a court challenge,” said Sen. James Brochin, a Baltimore County Democrat. “They have absolutely no grounds to do this. If we can’t get them to listen and change their minds, we’ll deal with this … and make them defend what’s indefensible.”
Edit. Well, as Granny used to say: Whoosha! The walls have ears! More and more the warning of the good Sisters of Charity at St. Anthony’s School, which I attended back in the day, are coming to pass. Children removed from the home to be raised by strangers, (daycare); neighbors and even children reporting to the State on the actions of parents, (Child Welfare Offices); Citizens spied upon by state agencies, (hidden public cameras and microphones becoming more and more ubiquitous); and so it goes. Our freedom is not lost through revolution but through attrition, evolution, and an uncaring populace.
Politics and more…
Communist Party USA celebrates Obama’s re-election
Trevor Loudon wrote Thursday that Sam Webb, leader of the Communist Party USA, “hailed the election of Party ‘friend’ Barack Obama, as the ‘dawn of a new era.’”
“The Party is cock-a-hoop over Obama’s victory, seeing it as both a repudiation of the conservative agenda and an opportunity to move the United States further towards socialism,” Loudon wrote.
Edit. . Well, that about covers it. Not much can be added to this article. I must relate that my intention all through the campaign was to “write in” Ron Paul on the ballot sheet. However, it was Michelle Obama, herself who convinced me to vote for Romney, when on the day before the election she told a crowd of Obama supporters: just imagine what Barack would do with four more years!” Yikes and gadzooks! What a horrible thought … needless to say, I held my nose and voted for Romney.
Let the men of wisdom speak…
Whenever someone must buy a license or pay a fee to exercise a right, then it is something less than a right. It is in fact a mere privilege, subject to the whim of petty bureaucrats. Fundamental rights are not abstract tokens that are given or sold by other men. They are in fact primary liberties bestowed upon us by God, our maker. Rights are not substantially secured by asking, “Mother may I?” of any government agency. Rights are more properly demanded or boldly seized and then conspicuously exercised regularly. This secures the liberties that have legitimately belonged to us since birth. If need be, lost rights can and must be restored through proscriptive use. If you live in a land where your rights have been marginalized into privileges, then it is either time to change your government, or to change your address. Much like a muscle that atrophies with disuse, any right that goes unexercised for many years devolves into a privilege, and eventually can even be redefined as a crime. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
With the progression of the seasons, there is not much to report on regarding gardens and outdoor projects here at Hunny-Bunny Farm. The only thing left to do is harvest the potatoes and onions. I also have to organize the greenhouse, as it is chock-full of plants just placed inside to protect them from the cold. Once this is done, I will begin to cultivate my salad greens and my watercress in the twenty-gallon fish tank. Meantime, I’ve undertaken two personal projects, things I’ve been longing to achieve for quite some time. The first is getting my HAM radio license and the second is taking up a musical instrument, in this case the mandolin. The priority is on the HAM license, the test for which is in the beginning December 2012. I’m spending approximately 1 & ½ hours per day on study, with the exception of Sunday. While it all seems arcane and mysterious initially, with terms such as farands, henries, triodes, PNP-transistors, things are gradually coming back to me from my freshmen year high school General Science course with Brother Arnold of the Irish Christian Brothers.
(Aside: It is difficult to get into the formal studying mode after so many years of “pleasure” reading of non-fiction books. It seems that in the environment of testing/studying takes on a different significance and aspect. It is difficult to explain but when faced with time constraints posed by testing, reading and study take on a new depth.)
Once I get my license, hopefully, both Novice and General, I can then begin to concentrate on my music. I most especially, like old-timey music, bluegrass, old timey gospel bluegrass, and Celtic songs and ballads. These are classic styles that open themselves to spontaneous group singing.
Beside this, the months of November, December, January, and early February are generally quiet times here on the ol’ homestead, which frees up time for such endeavors.
Putting It all In Perspective & Final commentary…
With the re-election of Barack Hussein Obama, aka Barry Sataro, as President of the US we are in for a grueling four years. Already he is preparing to endorse the UN Smalls Arms Treaty, which, will in fact, be an end run around our republican government apparatus, because ratified treaties trump all national laws. This means that public sales of guns and ammo by gun companies will become illegal. While any implementation of the UN Small Arms Treaty, should it be ratified, may or may not involve confiscation of weapons already owned, it would certainly curtail the purchasing of ammo. Thus resulting in a gradual restraint as ammunition as it is consumed on the practice range and in the woods and fields. So perhaps it is time to learn reloading and purchasing the necessary tools to produce our own ammo.
Meantime, as a good and holy priest recently pointed out in a sermon on liberalism, the face of liberalism has changed in both the greater society and in religion. Long gone are the days when scruffy radical liberals sported long hair, with torn and faded blue jeans. Today’s radicals are now exhibiting Armani suits and $500 Italian shoes. They wear conservative ties with quaffed hair and even make-up. They dye their hair and are clean-shaven in order to appear youthful and appealing to the inexperienced. In general, they put on the accoutrements of Conservatism, all the while promoting and even passing immoral and draconian laws that advance the Culture of Death, destroy liberty and our rights, and squash freewill as they coerce by force of law and punishment. In essence, their plans have not changed since the radical 1960’s social upheaval. They simply put on sheep’s clothing to fool an uninformed and largely uncaring electorate.
The same observations can also be made in religion. Since the radical liberalization of the so-called Vatican Council II reforms of the, not so coincidentally 1960’s, the radical leftist presiders of the day have abandoned the warm and fuzzy handholding around the altar with the singing of Kumbaya. Instead, they’ve dusted off their clerical garb and donned the cassock and biretta. They’ve reinstituted the Tridentine Rite of Mass, although only as the extraordinary form; they’re teaching Latin in their schools and seminaries; and installing such other window dressing as they see fit to fool the gullible. Meantime, their agenda remains the same, which is Religious Liberty, dialog with false religions, the degrading of the Roman Catholic Faith to just another of many routes to God, and overall to promote the adoption of the revolutionary new trinity of the demonic French Revolution of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity within the Catholic Church.
Our Lady warned us at La Salette, Fatima, and Akita that errors of liberalism will spread with the gradual diminishing of the true Roman Catholic Faith. In our day, with the Kumbaya clerics of the 60’s and 70’s now Bishops and even princes of the Church, it is unlikely that a Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will take place without a miraculous intervention from Heaven. Additionally, we must instill once again into our youth the unabridged Roman Catholic Faith and continue without ceasing to criticize the errors of the NewChurch. At least two generations have come since VCII and these generations have no direct memory of the true Church, other than what they have been told by the elders who have experienced it firsthand. We must ensure that they see quite clearly that these errors are not just academic but of crucial impact on their lives and souls and the lives and souls of their children and the future of the Church. While Vatican II was a dramatic departure from the true Faith, it is difficult for those who did not witness it to understand the depth and real danger of this radical council. Therefore, in many ways now is a more dangerous time than when the liberalism was open and notorious because the elders, at least, had a contrast with which they could compare …to our youth, it is all ancient history. Yet, as St. Peter admonishes us: Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. To him be glory and empire for ever and ever.
So adhere to the traditional Faith and the Sacred Magisterium of the Ages of the Church, most especially as our elders pass on. For the younger who remain, do not compromise the Faith one iota; don’t be fooled by the NewSpeak of the NewChurch with their “Hermeneutic of Continuity “. The baton is being handed off to you, do not fail to protect and nourish the Roman Catholic Faith; the one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Continue to fight the good fight of Faith, and continue to pray the Rosary of the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, her intervention, though it may be miraculous, is our only hope.
