Saturday Update December 01, 2012
Likewise as it came to pass, in the days of Lot: they did eat and drink, they bought and sold, they planted and built. And in the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Luke 17:28-29

Sinking Currency: U.S. Treasury Phasing Out Pennies And Nickels For Base Metal Value In 2013 Video
The Obama administration is seeking a way to make cheaper money, which in political circles means something different than it does at the U.S. Mint. Of course, abolishing the penny would not just make a lot of sense, it would save a ton of cash as well.
Edit. Once again, we are going to be bedazzled by further smoke and mirrors. This time, however, the power elite are resorting to an ancient ploy, going all the way back to the declining Roman Empire and beyond, that of removing the inherent value of the actual coins in circulation by “cutting” the more precious of the metals from the mix of coin amalgamations. This is also likened to the bootleggers of Prohibition who “cut” their bathtub gin with water, or worse …wood alcohol, to get more shots to the bottle. So in addition to unceasing printing presses feverishly putting out additional greenbacks and despite talk of removing the debt ceiling, the Obama Administration is calling for the curtailment, new metal blends, or most especially the elimination entirely of pennies and nickels.
Since the turn of the Twentieth Century, precious and semi-precious metals were the preferred tender for all transactions as these coins at least had intrinsic value in the makeup of their component parts. Depressions, recessions, panics, and bank runs, to say nothing of the printing of what was regarded as worthless greenbacks in the late Nineteenth Century, caused a lack of confidence among the citizenry. Therefore, the government was forced to guarantee the value of the U.S. Dollar by also having available an effective parallel “hard” currency in the form of coins of various denominations made of metals of intrinsic value as a backstop. The paper dollars of the time, necessarily backed by gold and silver, are referred to as “gold” or “silver” certificates. These certificates were redeemable in the equivalent intrinsic weight in either gold or silver depending on the denomination of the certificates. In effect the $$$ was “pegged” to the tangible metals markets.
Being a child of Great Depression Era parents, I understood instinctively this value of real money. As I grew through the nineteen sixties and seventies the backing of real intrinsic value was slowly pulled away and finally lost with President Richard M. Nixon’s removal of the gold standard from our currency system. At that point, our money was in essence free floating. If it were not for the fact of $$$ being the reserve currency for world trade we might have had a collapse as early as 1972. This Reserve Currency status kept us viable until our porcine spendthrift ways came home to roost. The spectre of which haunts us to this very day like the Ghost of Christmas Future …to keep in a holiday frame of mind. This also conditioned the willingness of the populace to accept intrinsically worthless paper notes, in effect, Federal I.O.U.’s, as a medium of exchange.
However, I digress. My point in this rant is that right now it costs about 4.8¢ to produce a penny even though, contrary to popular belief, it is mostly zinc (97.5%) clad in a copper flashing. Compare that cost to just 10 – 11 months ago when the cost was 2.4¢ each. Similarly, a nickel, presently, and for most of its history, is 25% nickel and 75% copper and costs about 16.4¢ apiece to make, compared to earlier this year’s cost of 11¢ each. Many attribute this to increased cost but the cost of mining, processing, stamping have remained the same in real terms. The actual cost is inflation, aka, the devaluation of our $$$. So, we have a catch 22 situation! The Administration is saying it cost more to make a penny / nickel, but it is the fiscal policies of the Federal Reserve and this very Administration that have devalued the dollar and ramped up the costs. Effectively, to use an old cliché: they are pissing up y’er back and tellin’ ya’ it’s raining. When will the people tear themselves from their spectator sports and Dancing With the Stars to demand their representatives do their jobs? To see the silver lining in this dark cloud (sorry couldn’t resist the pun) and as a little offbeat investment tip, now is the time to run down to the local banks, (another intentional bad pun) and buy nickels. To put it in investment terms their intrinsic value is 300% more than its monetary value. Where can you get an investment like that these days? Additionally, should the $ crash as Celente, Faber, and others predict it would make a great barter currency based solely on its metal content.
How government lies about the economy
Seeing Beyond the smoke and mirrors
The establishment media’s financial reporting is just like their reporting on politics and culture – which is to say, biased, inaccurate and misleading, sometimes intentionally so.
Edit. This proves they’re tellin’ you its still raining all the while they are …well, you know. Anyhow, don’t believe the so-called official status. Judge by the alternative reports like Shadowstats.com and your own weekly food and fuel budgets.
Rumors of Wars…
US aircraft carrier strikeforce readies in case of war with Iran
Its mission is to keep some of the world’s busiest shipping lanes open in its most combustible region; at any moment America’s standoff with Iran could escalate into a crisis.
“Could there be a threat?” asked Rear Admiral Mike Shoemaker, the man who would command any mission to force open the sea lanes. “Yes is the answer. Is it manageable? Also yes.”
Edit. Note that this is in addition to the deployment of three other naval vessels off the Gazan Coast, ostensibly to evacuate all Americans in Israel in the event such is needed. Say, do you think it a coincidence that President Obama and his State Department, led by Hillary, have been mightily struggling to keep a lid on Israeli military misadventures until after the U.S. elections and within a few days of Obama’s reelection a Gazan Hamas leader is taken out by a surgical missile strike? This naturally initiated a rocket attack response by Gaza. However, said response, even with the new hardware from Iran, is little more than a slingshot compared to the might of the Israeli bombing of a civilian city.
Meantime, the Russian Navy is also steaming to the Gulf and the Mediterranean as a show of support for their ally Iran. At the same time, China has beefed up its navy and successfully completed training of fighter plane take-offs and landings from their newly commissioned aircraft carrier.
The plot is thickening my friends, and doubtless it will be American blood and treasure that will bear the brunt of any escalation of hostilities in the North African – Middle and Near East.
Don’t allow your sons, and now daughters, to be fooled by the inevitable spate of patriotic propaganda movies that inevitably will follow. WE are not the world’s policemen nor the first line of the Israeli Defense Forces. Let the world find its own solutions and let’s get down to the business of handling our own domestic social and financial problems.

Jamie Foxx Calls Obama ‘Our Lord and Savior,’ Catholic League Reacts
“It’s like church over here. It’s like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our Lord and Savior Barack Obama. Barack Obama,” Foxx said to a cheering audience on Sunday night. The rapper, comedian and actor who stars in the “Django Unchained” movie written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, was warming up the fans in preparation for the evening’s music awards.
Edit. So… Maybe the rumors of BHO being the Antichrist are true? Hmmm!

Deadly new pertussis strain linked with whooping cough vaccine
Whooping cough (pertussis) has reached epidemic levels in the U.S. — the highest in five decades. Considering a majority of those who contract the disease are vaccinated, the absurdity of the call for increased pertussis vaccinations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is yet another example of our broken medical system. Even more disturbing, scientists now suspect that vaccines are actually causing this upsurge in whooping cough — contributing to mutations of the original bacterium into more virulent forms.
Edit. Big Pharma and heap Big Medicine (CDC) long in cahoots to overmedicate the populace, who, up to recent times, put so much confidence in them, is still trying to put one over on the American hypochondriacs. Despite mounting evidence of the dangers of vaccines, they say the answer is laughably more vaccine. Surely the old adage of: fool me once… comes into play here, No?

Animal welfare: Germany moves to ban bestiality
Outrageous as it may seem it is not for the reason you may think
The German parliament’s agriculture committee is considering making it an offence not only to hurt an animal but also to force it into unnatural sex. Offenders could face a hefty fine.
Germany legalized bestiality (zoophilia) in 1969, except when the animal suffered “significant harm”.
Edit. Incredible as it seems, our Western Civilization is becoming more and more depraved. It is interesting to once again note that the 1960’s, the Decade of Rebellion, was significant in Germany’s original legalization of such perversion. Pope Paul VI, cited in his Humani Vitae that once the removal of the primary purpose of procreation, which is the rearing and education of children is detached from the sexual act, all manner of perversions will follow. Now 43 years later as we struggle to maintain the sanctity of Marriage of one man for one woman we see the wisdom of his admonition. Unfortunately, such moral admonitions are even further lost on the contemporary generation. This is obvious by this article cited above. May God have Mercy on us!

McCain to pro-lifers: State your position, then ‘leave the issue alone’
Former presidential nominee John McCain is urging Republicans to confine their support for the unborn to rhetoric but abandon thoughts of enacting new legislation.
Appearing on Fox News Sunday over the weekend, the Arizona senator said the GOP needs “a bigger tent” to be successful in presidential elections, and part of that means dropping social issues important to conservatives.
Edit. It is most interesting to note in the interview McCain’s statement: the demographics are against us. This vindicates my oft times stated observation that the American Society at large is now firmly within the mindset of the Idolatry of Man. Simply stated, it is now commonly held belief, that we have the inherent right to murder the unborn in the womb; the right to murder the old, infirm, and other non-productive individuals in the name of mercy; and the right of deviants, not only to be culturally and socially recognized, but to legally engaged in the abomination of Sodomy, and in addition, infect the rest of society with alternative sex education in an attempt to affirm the legitimacy of such actions.
What is most worrisome is, these rights are implicitly and specifically granted by God and not the state, therefore, such an affirmation of so-called rights to abortion, euthanasia, and Sodomy are, underwritten by God…at least, according to the promoters of this evil. Truly, our civilization is under demonic delusion.
At the heart of this failure to recognize true morality is the fact that the Church does not speak forcefully enough or clearly enough for the faithful in the pew to understand the theological basis for the Catholic Sacred Teaching on these and other moral matters. Now in addition to the Church retreating from the field the Republican Party is also routed. This, however, was inevitable because politics is really the Hollywood for ugly people, neither party is but superficially tied to any moral position or plank in their platforms. How long, Lord, how long?
Let the men of wisdom speak…
Since the Council we have been seeing the situation get graver and graver, year by year, but the Synod was gravest of all because there they said, “We are continuing! Despite all difficulties, the Council was the work of the Holy Ghost, a second Pentecost. We must continue in the spirit of the Council. There will be no restrictions, no reprimands, no return to Tradition.” So now we see them saying, “Let’s go even faster!” Naturally, since there were no objections at the Synod to the spirit of the Council put into practice over 20 years, and since all agreed with the changes in the Church, then there is no reason not to continue even faster, and we are arriving at the total destruction of the Church! His Excellency Archbishop Lefebvre, March 30, 1986; His address to seminarians.
Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
Well there’s not much left to do in the outside gardens. I’ve still not gotten a chance to harvest the potatoes because on the days I plan to start adiggin’ the arthritis has been strongly severe. I see that next week will be a warming period so perhaps then I will be able to complete the gardens for 2012
Meantime, the honeybee suppliers are already taking orders for next year’s stock. Since I did very well by purchasing native Connecticut Nucs, (that is, nucleus colonies), I’m seriously considering buying 4 Nucs, but the cost is somewhat daunting at $125 per Nuc. The advantage of buying nucleus colonies is: first, they are native rather than raised in the relative warmth of the Southern US. Second, the colonies come with 5 frames of food, brood, 3#’s of workers, and a mated queen. This gives a jumpstart to the season and begins with a stronger colony. I think this is why last year’s honey production was so good. Last season I bought two 3# packages of bees in early spring, but in June I bought two Nucs of honeybees. This worked out really, really well for me. Assuming that my one remaining hive survives the winter, I will need to replace four of my lost colonies.
Meantime, ol’ Ruddy Fox has been making the rounds around the henyard about every two days or so. He quickly checks out the prospects then continues on his merry way. He usually arrives on weekdays at about 9:00am. At that time, the neighborhood is quiet with most gone off to work or school. It amazes me how the wildlife adjusts to the human schedule and traffic. For the time being ol’ Henrietta, is safe, though lonely, in her henyard. She rarely ventures into the garden anymore unless she see me coming on down. I guess she remembers that this is from where her chums disappeared. Although, I attributed it to hawks, with wiley ol’ Ruddy Fox hangin’ about I’m not so sure anymore.
Anyhow, that also brings me to replacements for my hens for next season. It seems that orders are already being taken for next year’s chicks with varying schedules of delivery. I will once again go with the Partridge Rocks because they seem to be acclimated to the New England climate. Though the price is cheaper in large multiples, but I can only get about six to eight pullets as space is limited and the neighbors here in Martha Stuart Country, still haven’t woken to the inevitable hard times a coming.
At this time of year, the seed companies are about to launch their spring sales drives, expect catalogues to start arriving at about Christmas and run through January and February. With some few exceptions, I’ve decided to start with a clean slate and order new open-pollinated, non-hybrid, non-GMO seeds. There are two reasons for this; first, since last year I inherited many seeds from a friend who moved across country, which were mismarked. I have no idea of the true varieties of seeds that most of them might be. In addition, many of these seeds were not viable because of the conditions in which they were previously stored. Many of these seeds had gone moldy and the remainder was infected with a moth / worm that we fought throughout the house all last season.
While I also saved seeds from the last 2012 garden, which I was planning to put away ‘til next season, I was processing them and had them spread on the dining room table to reach the optimum state for storage. Wouldn’t you know that Hurricane Sandy struck that week and when the sliding door was opened to let out the hounds for their morning outing, Sandy blew the entire tables contents onto the floor. The result was a conglomeration of seed species and varieties so that one seed could not be definitively distinguished from the next. Therefore, with relatively few exceptions I will be buying seed this year. I will take a different tack, however, in that I will not be buying from the usual Burpee, Stokes, Chumley, Burgess, and other traditional seed companies, which by the way, are mostly owned by Big Ag companies like Monsanto, ADM, etc. This time I will buy from some of the “seed vault” type companies advertised on some of the prepper sites and blogs. Even here, however, one cannot be completely sure of the integrity of the seed, so it will require much research, study, price comparisons, etc. I will let you know the results before the end of December 2012. Perhaps, CRS readers would be interested in a co-op type venture once my research is complete. Let me know by replying to this issue of CRS and I will look into a cooperative venture.
Putting It all In Perspective & Final commentary…
While perusing the news one evening this week I came across an article entitled Archdiocese of New York to Close Schools in the Bronx. I was distressed to learn that St. Anthony’s School, which for most of my family including myself is our alma mater, is slated for closure. Much in distress I went onto a website for my old neighborhood called Stratton Park to find further detail. While it seems no one on the site knew of the closure yet, I unintentionally spent the next couple of hours reading the various pages and boards. I was shocked and amazed to learn just how many of my former schoolmates and friends have been completely indoctrinated and conditioned to accept the Novus Ordo Church, that is, NewChurch. So complete is the conversion to a Neo-Protestant mentality that one thread dealt with a certain Fr. G., as I will call him. It seems that subsequent to VCII, he had left the priesthood for reasons not discussed. Many of the members of the site wanted to know where he was, how he was doing, etc. At last reckoning, he apparently has married and may have a family. The irony of this is that no members of the Stratton Park website viewed this as a tragedy, but were jubilant that he has found “happiness”. Were they not aware that ordination imparts an indelible mark on the soul? What about sacred vows? What if, his newly married state of “happiness” is but fleeting; can he, in the pursuit of improved happiness, now disavow his marriage, divorce and remarry? From the various responses, this would seem to be a legitimate action as temporal happiness is the ultimate goal of the Faith. There seems to be little if any concern over the eternal Truths of the Catholic Faith.
Readers may agree this is tragic! …that so many can be deceived, yet wonder why such a personal response on my part to this tragedy would go into this CRS blog. Surely, we’ve all heard similar stories! However, my point in relating this is we all grew up in the same orthodox Catholic environment at St. Anthony’s School, taught by the good and holy Sisters of Charity, with their old-fashioned ways and orthodox Faith, yet we’ve come away from it with such a divergent Faith as to be unrecognizable. So different is my outlook on the Faith from those of my mates it is a though we are of different Faiths. Their Catholic mentality, thoughts, and actions are grossly distorted. They rejoice in the weakness of a former pastor who disavowed his priesthood and remarried: how Catholic can this joyous celebration be?
Let me not belabor the issue further, the reason I write this is that here we here have students trained the same way, by orthodox nuns arriving at different concepts of the Faith. SO, with this in mind, how can it be that in some quarters of contemporary Catholic tradition the thought of formally collaborating with such error can bring the Church back to the right course of Catholic orthodoxy? At the moment, we have a platform to teach orthodoxy unencumbered. Once we “regularize” we will simply become an ineffectual part of the stable of traditional orders under the complete control and manipulation of the NewChurch. While ultimately, we must seek to be in “full communion with the Vatican”, it can only be when the Vatican expresses and demonstrates true and authentic re-conversion back to orthodoxy, and not just window dressing of lifting of excommunications that never existed or tolerance for a Tridentine Rite that never was abrogated.
I plead with the leadership of orthodox traditional Catholic orders, whether they’ve already capitulated or are considering so, to stay the course. Do not give ground! Hold the banner of Christ on high for all the Church to see. Let it become a rallying point in diabolical disoriented battlefield so that Rome can see and return to her rightful leadership. Do not be complicit with the apostasy we now behold.
Meantime, for all the orthodox, traditional Faithful, lay and clerical alike, continue to pray the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Consecration of Russia by the Pope and all the Bishops. Time is growing short and she, Our Blessed Lady, is staying back the hand of her Son. She is our only recourse.
