Saturday Update April 6, 2013 (delayed)
Yes, I know that this quote was used last issue but the message certainly bears repeating during this crisis of tradition.
On the Lighter Side…
Out of the Mouths of Babes!
Obama administration pushes banks to make home loans to people with weaker credit
“If that were to come to pass, that would open the floodgates to highly excessive risk and would send us right back on the same path we were just trying to recover from,” said Ed Pinto, a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and former top executive at mortgage giant Fannie Mae.
Edit. Perhaps the reckless Obama Administration considers this a hair of the dog that bit ya’, but undoubtedly this is just some additional Socialist tactics to drive down the economy. Worthless deadbeat mortgages were what triggered the debacle back in 2006 – 2009, from which we have not yet recovered.
Thanks, World Reserve Currency, But No Thanks: Australia And China To Enable Direct Currency Convertibility
Over the weekend, Australia appears to have come to the same conclusion, with the Australian reporting that the land down under is set to say goodbye to the world’s “reserve currency” in its trade dealings with the world’s biggest marginal economic power, China, and will enable the direct convertibility of the Australian dollar into Chinese yuan, without US Dollar intermediation, in the process “slashing costs for thousands of business” and also confirming speculation that China is fully intent on, little by little, chipping away at the dollar’s reserve currency status until one day it no longer is.
Edit. This is a direct result of the Federal Reserve’s dollar printing policies. As the Fed ignites inflation through the 24/7 printing presses, our trading partners and creditors, by the way, realize that we will be paying off our debt in increasingly worthless dollars. They therefore are hedging their bets by divesting in any way they can from accumulating dollars including eliminating all trade transaction in the world currency reserve, aka American Greenbacks.
Folks, it appears the chickens are coming home to roost as foreign trade seems to seek shelter from the American dollar …and this is only the tip of the inevitable iceberg as cause and effect takes its toll. Watch and pray, folks, watch and pray.
rumors of wars…
U.S. Amassing B-1 Strategic Bombers Near North Korea
“Late last night I monitored “DARK flight of seven” on PRIME (311.000 MHZ STRATCOM PRIMARY) asking for current weather for UAM [airport code for Guam – Andersen Air Force Base]. On the frequency of 251.100 MHz, DARK flight also was calling for “GASSR 11 and GASSR 12″ (KC-135s) for “Tanker drag to BAB [Beale AFB, California]“.
“Dark” is the standard radio call sign for the 7th Bomb Wing’s B-1s based at Dyess AFB, near Abilene, Texas.
Edit. Don’t think that this is a unilateral move folks, China is moving troops toward the border with North Korea and Russia is also deploying naval vessels to the area. All this for a two-bit nation that is essentially the mouse that roared. Perhaps if we hadn’t backed North Korea up to the wall with the sanctions that only inflict burden on the populous too weak to rebel we wouldn’t have this crisis today. Sanctions, IMHO, are an non-military act of aggression that is only a prelude to war.
The actual danger in all of this North Korean business is not the rinky-dink nation but the super powers surrounding it.

Gonzaga University: Knights of Columbus Discriminatory
“The Knights of Columbus, by their very nature, is a men’s organization in which only Catholics may participate via membership,” says a letter obtained by The Cardinal Newman Society written by Sue Weitz, Vice President for Student Life. “These criteria are inconsistent with the policy and practice of student organization recognition at Gonzaga University, as well as the University’s commitment to non-discrimination based on certain characteristics, one of which is religion.”
Edit. So even fellow Catholics perversely rail against their bother Catholics! This is only the latest sign of persecution against Holy Mother Church, though this persecution is from within. …and the SSPX wants to regularize with this motley crew?
Health and Wellness: formerly called Emerging Illnesses (Pestilence)…
USDA caves to food industry pressures, approves three new toxic meat preservatives
According to Courthouse News Service (CNS), sodium benzoate, sodium propionate, and benzoic acid will now be permissible for use in preserving and treating meat and poultry products, despite having been previously banned. FSIS has long been of the persuasion that major food corporations would attempt to use such additives to “conceal damage or inferiority in meat and poultry,” but the agency’s view has apparently changed.
Edit. So once again Big-Ag has won out over the health of the American consumer. Obviously, it is time to start raising backyard poultry and rabbits in addition to your gardens. It is your only assurance of reasonably safe food.
Devastating honeybee loss reported across United States expected to impact food prices
The disorder has significantly affected bee populations since the 1970s with a sharp increase in losses since 2006. Now, as beekeepers return to their hives to prepare for spring pollination, they are finding that at least half of their bees are gone.
the times they are a changin’…
Gettysburg, the War Between the States, and Political Correctness
Edit. The primary reason for the lateness of the Catholic Rural SolutionsSaturday Update for this week is my Thursday trip to Gettysburg National Memorial and Battlefield. Since this is the 150th Anniversary of this decisive battle of the War of Northern Aggression, (better known in the Northern States as the Civil War), I was anxious to make a trip to more or less get the lay of the land, so to speak before the crowds descended on this historic venue.
The trip was about 4 ½ hours from home and that’s a lot of driving for one day. Though we got a late start we arrived in Gettysburg at 2:15 pm. We had enough time to see the museum and get a free self-guided map of the battlefield. The Memorial offers various packages of tours the most usual is a combination, film, cyclorama, (which is a 360° oil painting of the battle with sound effects), and the museum. Since I knew the film was a politically correct propaganda production about the root cause of the war being slavery and I couldn’t see wasting limited time looking at an oil painting, we opted for the unadvertised museum admission only. The museum itself was full of P.C. nonsense as well, and consisted of largely news articles of the day blown up to poster size. I was in general disappointed except for the various artifacts of battle and accoutrements of the armies.
We quickly breezed through the museum in order to get to the battlefield itself and followed the self-guided (and free) map stopping at all of the 16 points of interest. We actually walked many of these sites and as a result understood thoroughly the logistics of the battle. We were able to complete the auto-tour by five o’clock had a quick dinner and we were back on the long road home at precisely 6 pm.
At this time I would like to make some observations on the politically correct presentation of the event of the Civil War that is being foisted not only in Gettysburg but in our educational and cultural systems today. First, the museum presented the reasons for the war was three: the preservation of the Union; the “safeguarding of individual rights”; and the abolition of slavery. While the overall objective of the war for the North was the preservation of the union, I’m not sure what they intend by “safeguarding individual rights”. Certainly, if they mean State’s Rights they should state it so. This was the objective of not only the South but the overall cause and objective of the secession and subsequent war. State’s Rights are a form of subsidiarity, which is the efficient governing at the most local levels. This is why the Vatican was one of the few nations of the world in those days to recognize the Confederate States of America.
The issue of slavery was not actually an issue at all, but a by-product and a stratagem of the North in both rallying the populous around a central cause and also crippling the South. Much like the stand of politicians today, slavery was a matter of individual belief. Lincoln, while personally opposed to slavery on a private level only initiated the Emancipation Proclamation to undermine the South’s economy, which was slave based. Certainly, thirty years down the road with the advent of the Industrial Revolution, even the most ardent slave owner would have also recommended the disbanding of slavery because it was costly and not very efficient. Indeed, the chief reason for the Civil War was State’s Rights!
The Federalists were overreaching their scope of power and infringing into individual State affairs and this was the rub. With the winning of the War by Federalists we see the embryonic stages of the state of affairs we are witnessing today with a Central nanny-state regulating not only our 2nd Amendment rights but even our eating and drinking habits. This Centralization of Power was clearly evident to the Confederate leaders and generals and was the impetus for the secession and war …slavery had little to do with it.
So if anyone is contemplating a trip to Gettysburg, which I highly recommend, opt for the auto-tour, but be sure to do your homework first and understand not only the battle itself but the real reason for the Civil War. BTW, I recommend if you are intending to go to do so before the weather warms because this being the 150th anniversary of the event it will be jammed with sightseers and re-enactors come the good spring weather. During our visit the weather was seasonably cool at 49°, with a stiff cold wind from the north and overcast. While there were other visitors about we were not tripping over each other and we had direct access to everything we wished to see.
To fully understand all the above I urge the readership to view this short YouTube video entitled:

Rick Santorum Warns: If GOP Embraces Gay Marriage ‘It Would Be Suicidal’
In an interview with the Des Moines Register, the politician said that embracing gay marriage would be “suicidal” for the party. The former senator also noted that some Republicans, like Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois, and Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, who have openly endorsed gay marriage are no different than those politicians who parted ideological ways from the party over the abortion issue in the 1960s and 1970s.
Edit. While I agree with his statement I also believe that the Republican Party will indeed adapt many of the social positions of the left as time progresses because our nation is largely under a diabolical delusion that favors many ideals of the left including but not limited to the Sodomite agenda and the Culture of Death.

Bishop Williamson Conference St Paul MN Part 1 (Enhanced Audio)
The good bishop talks about the Seven Ages of the Church. It is most enlightening because it puts all the current events in context. It are short YouTube videos of approximately 50 minutes, 50 minutes, and 20 minutes. This is a most important teaching of His Excellency in the spirit of his office as successor of the Apostles.
With the break of the winter here in the northeast it was pretty much fulltime work on the outside here at Hunny-Bunny Farm. To briefly give you some idea here is a brief rundown of what I accomplished much to my amazement:
Ø Sprayed dormant oil on the fruit trees
Ø Spread grass seed in the thin areas of the yard
Ø Cleaned the yard of all the dog’s balls and toys that had been lost to a winters worth of snow cover
Ø Picked up firewood from a neighbor and cut, split, and stacked the same which came to about half a cord.
Ø Re-stacked 26 leftover bags of coal into an out-of -sight location under the spruces along the driveway, which means we used nearly one ton & ½ of coal this winter and about a cord of wood.
Ø Gave the hen house and rabbitry a good spring cleaning.
Ø Got together a winter’s worth of trash and ashes and visited the local dump.
Ø Started some more seed in the greenhouse
Ø Cleaned the fire barrel in preparation for another season
Ø Fed all the plants in the greenhouse as well as the plants in the main house
Ø Put out lawn furniture
Ø Started preparation for laying in additional paving stones around the pool area
Ø Built and installed an overhead glassware wrack for over the basement bar
Whew! I’m getting tired all over again just talking about this. Regardless, this week will call for more of the same as I clean all the garden beds and rows of winter debris and begin to side dress all with compost for the upcoming season. Additionally, I will keep an eye on the weather so I can take advantage of the time to re-paint the decking on the back deck. So the season has started in earnest here at H-B and I’m glad the winter is over.
Putting It all In Perspective & Final commentary…
So with the advent of the warm spring weather we can see many things beginning to simmer, both secular and religious. There seems to be an anxious pall descending over everyone’s thoughts. In fact, most people seem to be in a stupor as the news, pregnant with implications and foreboding, raining down on our heads. North Korea, the Doctrinal Preamble of the SSPX counter-proposal, the stealing of savings by banks and governments, apparent liberal tone of the new Pope Francis, the collapsing American Greenback, the polarizing of nations into opposing camps all seem to overload the populous and rather than galvanize them in to action have induced a torpor which can only be detrimental.
Now is the time to take advantage of the time remaining and prepare: top off your food supplies; prepare your gardens; stock up on various staples your family my need. I realize that times are overwhelming but never the less get prepared. In an effort to help and while I might be labeled a
50’s Catholic here is a little bit of nostalgia that may help take the edge off things and get you moving in your preps.
Remember, the good times are still ahead of us. Just be faithful to the family rosary and remember all is in God’s Providential hands.
