OPEC Falling Apart at the Seams
In a lackluster economy, there hasn’t been much from OPEC members to suggest there was any sort of revival. But with seven of the 12 members of the cartel experiencing at least some form of upheaval, the cost of doing business suggests members may need more than a little bit of luck to return to glory.
Edit. While at first glance this may appear to signal decreasing gasoline prices at the pump, it is really indicating that in the long run the cost of doing business for the major oil companies is increasing.

Mother Of Murdered Benghazi Diplomat Slams Hillary Clinton: “I Blame Her”
HILLARY CLINTON, FORMER SECRETARY OF STATE: With all due respect, the fact is, we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator.
Edit. I include this under the heading of Rumors of War because this terrorist atrocity was committed by al Qaeda allies of the U.S. who overthrew the Libyan government of Gaddafi. These same allies are also active with us in the Syrian overthrow now under way. When will we heed the admonition of George Washington and “avoid foreign entanglements”?

Notre Dame professor tackles ‘myth’ of Christian martyrdom
Candida Moss, a professor of early Christianity at the University of Notre Dame and a practicing Catholic, wants to shatter what she calls the “myth” of martyrdom in the Christian faith.
Sunday school tales of early Christians being rounded up at their secret catacomb meetings and thrown to the lions by evil Romans are mere fairy tales, Moss writes in a new book. In fact, in the first 250 years of Christianity, Romans mostly regarded the religion’s practitioners as meddlesome members of a superstitious cult.
Edit. So tell me again; the traditional Catholic movement wants to reconcile with the NewChurch for what reason…?

Flu Attack! How A Virus Invades Your Body
It starts very simply. A virus, just one, latches on to one of your cells and fools that cell into making lots more. Lots, lots more, like a million new viruses. This animation shows you how viruses trick healthy cells to join the dark side.
Edit. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, this video underscores the need for hygiene and etiquette.
European Commission to criminalize nearly all seeds and plants not registered with government
(NaturalNews) A new law proposed by the European Commission would make it illegal to “grow, reproduce or trade” any vegetable seeds that have not been “tested, approved and accepted” by a new EU bureaucracy named the “EU Plant Variety Agency.”
It’s called the Plant Reproductive Material Law, and it attempts to put the government in charge of virtually all plants and seeds. Home gardeners who grow their own plants from non-regulated seeds would be considered criminals under this law.
Edit. Slowly by slowly we are approaching a hive mentality where the good of the hive outweighs the individual. To achieve this, control is key …control of all aspects of human experience.

Gunfire and moments of fear as a rural Oregon school tests its readiness
HALFWAY — Two masked men wearing hoodies and wielding handguns burst into the Pine Eagle Charter School in this tiny rural community on Friday. Students were at home for an in-service day, so the gunmen headed into a meeting room full of teachers and opened fire.
Someone figured out in a few seconds that the bullets were not drawing blood because they were blanks and the exercise was a drill, designed to test Pine Eagle’s preparation for an assault by “active shooters” who were, in reality, members of the school staff. But those few seconds left everybody plenty scared.
Edit. Can it be that American society has been so conditioned that they accept such actions by government without the least protest? The days of “Reading, ‘Riting and ‘Rithmetic” are long gone with good ol’ Miss Crabtree. What an outrage!

Let the men of wisdom speak…
I must study politics and war, that my sons may have the liberty to study mathematics and philosophy, natural history and naval architecture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, tapestry, and porcelain. John Adams
This week at Hunny-Bunny Farm I’ve been busy putting in most of the vegetable plants and cleaning the greenhouse. I emptied the greenhouse of all plants to let them harden off and will finish tidying up this weekend. Meantime, cold temperatures are expected on Monday and Tuesday nights, May 13 & 14. The most sensitive of plants will be reinserted into the greenhouse, while the others will be encased in cloches during the nighttime cold which will approach or even broach freezing. The readers may remember that I had, several years ago, made cloches from old plastic milk bottles. These serve well as protection against unexpected frost during spring. Meantime, I’ve got half the garden cleared and planted and anticipate clearing the rest next week. This year has been different than other years with a lingering winter that just refused to relinquish its grip. So rather than clearing and tilling the garden in one fell swoop, I’ve had to resort to clearing the beds and rows as plants were installed. With winter hanging on, the whitefly problem this spring in the greenhouse, and the problems with the greenhouse heater this winter we’ve had quite a setback in the new seedlings this season. I finally had to resort to buying started plants because of the lateness of the season. I hope the problems of this season so far are not a sign of things to come with the rest of the gardening season this winter.
I also received another box of button mushrooms to begin growing more mushrooms for the table. In times past I’ve had greater success with this process but this winter I have gotten little compared to other years. Perhaps this new batch will be more successful.
I experienced the same last year so maybe the mushroom producers are just being stingy with spores as inflation kicks in. I will keep all apprised of the situation in this regard.
On a sad note ol’ Jack the Wonder Dog, suddenly took a turn for the worse. At 3:00 AM, Friday, May 10, I was awoken to deep breathing and his obvious discomfort. I found that not only had his paws once again swelled but he suddenly was having problems with his hips, and his belly and chest were distended. He was in obvious pain. So the inevitable decision was made to relieve him of his suffering. He is now lying beside his old pal Tyler with whom he arrived in the middle of the night some eight years ago to end their life of endless wandering. Jack was a good companion and a faithful dog, he will be missed.
Putting It all In Perspective & Final Commentary…
Approximately a year ago the disturbances in the traditional Catholic movement became more public as an outcry was raised against any accord with Rome. Over the course of this year I’ve tried to be a voice of moderation while keeping the readership informed of various occurrences and events that have taken place. As the readership will note, I’ve not engaged in hyperbole, gossip, or rumor but merely pointed to articles or events already known and / or on the Internet.
This year of covering this crisis in the pages of CRS has proved to be very exhausting and I’ve found the need to step back for a time of private recollection. So for the upcoming fortnight or more I will spiritually reinvigorate myself by going on a private and personal recollection through in-depth spiritual reading of the Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, the Desert Fathers, the Lives of the Saints, and of course, re-reading of the writings of His Excellency Archbishop Lefebvre. My personal library is rich in books on the Catholic Faith and it will afford me a perfect opportunity to remain at home with little need access any information from outside sources. Thus the solitude and seclusion so important to a recollection will remain intact. The duties of Hunny-Bunny Farm will also afford some interaction with nature which has always been a source of strength since my youth. This personal retreat will be a touchstone for me to strengthen and renew my Catholic Faith which has been shaken by recent events, as I’m sure most thinking Catholics have also experienced.
So for at least the next two weeks there will be no issues of CRS forthcoming as I consider all the above but also my influence, if any, on friends, relations, and the readership of CRS. Meantime, be assured that CRS will continue when these days of recollection are over.
