How the Greenies Hit Your Pocketbook

pumpethanolAs I’ve alluded to in several past issues of Catholic Rural Solutions, the Green Movement is nothing but a sham to manipulate the American citizenry and is quickly becoming an increasingly effective Socialist tool in leveling the economic playing field between so-called rich nations and the emerging third world. This time the issue is ethanol, which was mandated by the 2005 Clean Air Act to be included as an increasing component of the gasoline at our pumps. It is here that the impact to our wallets is most evident as we have seen over the past several months, most especially since June, 2013.

The rub in this go-round is that most of our older cars, even as recent as 2011 in many cases, cannot handle more than a 10% component of ethanol to gasoline. Virtually, every pump has already reached that limit, yet the Clean Air Act mandates increasing percentages of ethanol in our blends. This not only causes our vehicles to run inefficiently, but also causes a dilemma at the refineries. They must use the ethanol for domestic use but the demand is down among US consumers for ethanol blends. The refiners therefore, make blends with little or no ethanol for the export market where there is no mandate to include it. Thus we, the American consumers are faced with a unique pincher effect of less available gas for the American market as more is exported and the unusable +10% ethanol blends.

So once again we see the chickens coming home to roost in our incompletely thought-out, knee-jerk, emotional reactions to environmental issues. In 2004 / 2005 there was a great push to clean up our air, no matter the cost. Well, like Obamacare, we cannot know what’s in this bill until it is passed and the real costs have come out: this despite opponents pointing to just such problems.

Additionally, and not mentioned in the below video, we are dedicating more and more farmland to corn for ethanol production at the cost of corn for basic foodstuffs. This, of course, causes prices of corn-based food to jump as the Law of Supply and Demand takes effect. Therefore, the cost is essentially a triple pinch.

Folks, begin to act, not react, to situations that have a profound effect on you and your wallets. Turn off the boob-tube and re-learn to read again; become aware of what the true costs of proposed bills, mandate, and other legislation is BEFORE, they are passed. If not, you will continue to be a cash-cow to the environmental whacko Socialists and the despicable politicians who only placate them to line their own pockets and promote neo-Communist social agendas.

About Catholic Rural Solutions

This group is for the practical application of Catholic Distributist teachings as promoted by Pope St. Pius X, Belloc, Chesterton, Maurin and others in the 20th century. This group is also a respite for traditional Catholics who adhere to the Tridentine Rite of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and who share a concern for small independent Catholic communities throughout the world. These communities while primarily small holding farmers, craftsmen and tradesman all espouse an integrated life based on Catholic Social Justice and the Sacred Magisterium of the Church. Through this we intend to inject the Distributist economic principles into the greater society. Please fell free to share your experiences in this vein. Flaming, proselytizing and persecution WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
