The Truth Be Known…
It has always been my contention that one can never really be sure of what you and your family ingests for nutrition unless you grow it yourself. I’ve argued this with well-intentioned organic consumers, (especially in traditional Catholic circles), until I’m blue in the face, yet they are convinced that large grocery corporations, like Whole Foods, are actually concerned about their, (the consumer’s) health and welfare. At the end of the day, this and other large corporations saw a trendy niche, especially among the upper middle classes, to sell at a higher price point, without any real legitimate guarantees of truly healthful products. Essentially, these chic and trendy body-conscious folks are being duped in an epic fashion.

Meantime, as I’ve stated in past issues of CRS, with the polluting of the natural world with GMO’s even the small-holding farmer and the backyard gardener cannot presume that his plants and the subsequent veggies and fruits are completely safe. One can never be sure that the open pollinated “seeds in the can” are not also mixed with adulterated seed; or even his own crops are truly wholesome because his neighbor may not be aware or even care whether or not he has GMO’s, heirloom, open-pollinated, or anything else. In nature pollens from one field can and often do drift via wind currents or wildlife. However, when you grow it yourself from seeds you saved from your past crops you stand the best chance of getting uncontaminated seeds, plants and subsequent fruits.
